Using Google

If you Google "FARC" you get 6 million sites. But if you use advance search and use the "with the exact phrase" box for "FARC" you get over 6 million sites. I narrowed my search even more by using the "with at least one of the words" box for "drug war" and the "without the words" box for "terrorism". This narrowed it down first to 900 thousand sites then to 500 thousand sites.

without the wordsterrorism

If you Google "Colombia Guerrilla Movement" you get over 500 thousand sites. But if you use advance search and use the "with the exact phrase" box for "Colombia Guerrilla Movement" you get 60 sites. Over 400 thousand fewer sites than before! I narrowed my search even more by using the "with at least one of the words" box for "drugs" and the "without the words" box for "weapons". This narrowed it down first to 22 sites then to 6 sites.

Searching the Web

TOPIC 1: Wall Street Crash of 1929
There were many accurate sites when searching for information on the Wall Street Crash of 1929. I chose eyewitnesstohistory.com for the most accurate site. This link is a good link because it has good grammar and all of the needed and correct information. There was one site that had limited information. I chose spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk as the most poor site. This link was a poor one because it didn't really have much information.

TOPIC 2: Illegal Immigration
There were many accurate sites when searching for information on Illegal Immigration. I chose immigration-usa.com for the most accurate site. This is a good link because it seems to have a lot of information about the immigration laws and also estimates. There was one site that had limited information. I chose cis.org for the most poor site. This link was a poor one because it just has estimates and not enough facts.

Peer Review of I am

I am doing a peer review about Alex's I am blog post. He's 13 years old and his favorite subject in intermediate school was math. I like the fact that he likes soccer because i like it too. I think his page is sort of plain but I still liked it. I enjoyed reading Alex's I am blog and his grammar was okay. I can relate to him in many different ways. We both like running, swimming, and soccer and I also hope to make many new friends over the 4 years in this school. I give him a 8 out of 10 =)

I am

My name is Nicole Valencia and I'm 14 years old. I was born on February 4, 1993 in Elmhurst, N.Y. Both of my parents are Colombian, from Medellin and Pereira. My parents have been married for 21 years. I have an older brother, his name is Juan and he's 20 years old. I live in Elmhurst, Queens. I love to dance and I like to play soccer. I'm a happy and cheerful person, most of the time I'm smiling =D

I like watching scary movies, chatting, and going to the mall. I am a really friendly person but most of the time I have more guy friends than girls. I'm guessing it's because I think guys can be better friends than some girls at times. I do have friends that are girls and they're really cool.Even though I was born here I consider myself 100% Colombian and I'm proud of it. I love going to Six Flags, the rides are scary but after a while they become fun. I've always dreamed of being a pharmacist. This year I want to start working at a family friend's pharmacy as an assistant so I can get experience and see how it's like.

At my old school some people thought I was mean, which I never understood because I'm a nice and friendly person. The people that really know me can tell you that I'm such a nice friend and I'm not mean at all. But people that don't know me think that I'm conceited and mean. I love making new friends and getting to know them. I hope my high school years, like everyone tells me, are the best years of my life. =) Nicole (=
